A larger painting based on the characters from one of my favourite book series: the Folk of the Air Trilogy by Holly Black. 

I wanted to reference a medieval painting style for this piece and used inspiration from illuminated manuscripts and the backgrounds of early medieval renaissance oil paintings. 

Storytelling is one of my favourite things to do with my artwork and including as many small detail and easter eggs as I can to try and include everything I love about a book.
